1 in 5 people still don't use sun protection!

Noel Coward was right! It is only mad dogs and Englishmen who go out in the midday sun. A recent survey showed that 20% of British people still do not use sun protection - even in strong sun - despite many years of health information warning of the dangers of skin cancer and of the ageing effects on the skin.

And those who do use some form of sun cream often use an inadequate low protection product and - as if that wasn't bad enough - many of them do not reapply the product during the day - even after a swim has washed off the cream they were wearing. It's no wonder that so many British people spoil their holidays with sun burn and look like freshly cooked lobsters when lying on the beach.

And the main reasons why they don't use sun protection......?

There are several reasons but perhaps the main one is that people like to get a tan when they are on holiday. They also find sun creams expensive and they do not like the fuss and nuisance of having to keep reapplying them (especially on a sandy beach where gritty grains get everywhere and stick to the skin - ouch!)

SO THE GOOD NEWS......?

P20 ONCE-A-DAY SUNFILTER IS JUST NOT LIKE ANY OTHER PRODUCT!

Riemann P20 Once-a-Day Sunfilter is a well tried and tested product to protect from sunburn while allowing a gentle, slow golden tan.
It is a unique product as it only needs to be applied once a day - 15 minutes before exposure to the sun - so there's no need to reapply the product - you can simply get on with enjoying yourself. (Easy-to-follow instructions are provided with each bottle.)
Riemann P20 Once-a-Day Sunfilter provides medium sun protection - factor 20 - and is still 90% effective after swimming.
Compared to the price of conventional sun products, P20 is remarkably good value - just one handy, lightweight 100ml bottle is usually enough for one person for one week - and it takes up hardly any valuable luggage space!

And, not only all this, but P20 has been tried and tested in the scorching Saharan sun!

If just one application of P20 a day can provide all this protection even in the scorching conditions of the Sahara.....
..... just think how convenient and economical it can be for holidays, days out and indeed for any outdoor activity when you just want to get on with the fun and not have to keep worrying about applying sun lotion.

.Superb performance - rowing the Atlantic!

P20 has proven itself in many events involving sun exposure on land and sea. P20 accompanied and protected Dominic Marsh and Gary Fooks when they undertook the Ward Evans Atlantic Rowing Challenge 2001 between Tenerife and Barbados - 3,200 miles! They used P20 as part of their early morning routine everyday and couldn't fault the protection it provided.

The Ward Evans Atlantic Rowing Challenge was first staged in 1997 and was the creation of round-the-world yachtsman Sir Chay Blythe. Up to 40 two-person teams compete in the event in boats that are 7.1 metres in length. The race calls for complete self-sufficiency with each boat carrying enough food and supplies for up to three months at sea.

Dominic Marsh and Gary Fooks had been friends for many years before they competed in the event. Both had worked in media related industries in the South East of England before moving (with their partners) to Weymouth on the Dorset Coast. They attribute their success in the Transatlantic Challenge to their ability to pool their experience and their ability to keep each other in good humour throughout the arduous expedition. Dominic had plenty to say about their experience of using P20 for sun protection...

"Rowing naked - apart from a hat and sunglasses in the middle of the Atlantic (just 14 degrees north of the Equator) is a dangerous place during daylight hours. There is nowhere to hide when the sun shines, which is pretty much every day. Sunburn was a severe risk and would have been catastrophic. But with P20 we did not suffer sunburn at all throughout the two-month journey. The 'apply once and forget' style of P20 seemed too good to be true but it performed perfectly. P20 meant that we could consider the daily task of sun protection as 'done' and get on with rowing across the ocean."
Dominic Marsh, Ward Evans Atlantic Rowing Challenge competitor, 2001.

Excellent sun protection in the Trans 333 race

P20 was there to protect Jamie Cuthbertson (a Scottish athlete who was blinded in 1986) and his friend and "guide-dog" Roraigh Ainslie when they competed in the gruelling 2001 Trans 333 race staged in desert conditions in Mauritania.

"We rely on P20 - it never lets us down"

The verdict from the British Saharan runners...

It was very exciting that (for the third year running) so many British athletes offered to try P20 Once-a-Day Sunfilter during the Marathon des Sables 2000 - as this would really put P20 to the test. A sunfilter that needs only be applied once a day, comes in a small lightweight bottle and provides a protection factor of SPF 20 sounds perfect for such an event- but would it stand up to this extraordinary trial?
Judge for yourself. Here are just a few of their comments about P20:

"Protection couldn't be faulted … very easy to use … a great product for the Marathon des Sables and other sports where it is inconvenient to keep applying lotion."
Douglas McNeil of Fakenham

"P20, in my opinion, is the best on the market … I was very happy with the protection"
Steve North of Wakefield

"Excellent protection - much better than expected. Temperatures reach 130°F and I was still fully protected and did not get sun burnt... I will use it in an English summer - especially on my face as it did not irritate my usually sensitive skin..."
Beverley Eastwood of Leeds

"P20 was much better than my usual sun cream. A liquid is better absorbed, gives better coverage - and it only needs to be applied once a day... it was particularly suitable for the conditions we encountered because it was NOT sticky."
Monique Graham of Leeds

"Your product did not fail at all in the seven days I spent in the Sahara Desert while running and sweating in temperatures up to and over 50°C. I can and will honestly and without reservation be happy to recommend P20 to anyone who is worried about sunburn... I cannot recommend P20 enough."
Ian M Gray of Elsworth

"Excellent, not having to reapply or worry about it throughout the day - was great! One small bottle lasted for seven days! No burning. Good tan!"
Nikalas Cook of London

"Very good - no burning at all - and easy to use. Definitely worked for me. No burning in pretty severe conditions and strong sun."
Paul Norris of Silchester

"I'll definitely use it again - so much more convenient and less fuss"
Mary Howarth of Sheffield

"I found P20 quite simply outstanding, the only sunburn I got during the entire time was a small patch on the back of my arm where I had failed to apply P20. I was exposed to direct, very strong sunlight for between 4 and 6 hours each day and had no problems, despite heavy sweating. Far better than anything I've used before."
Mr J J Turner

"P20 was great - no one had any problems with the sun."
Julian Winser, Director, Schroders Personal Investment Management Ltd

"P20 was great - I had no sunburn at all. I don’t think I could have had any better protection. Thank you. P20 gave me total protection - I know this as I usually burn on holiday."
Steve North

"Absolutely brilliant - I will use it myself and for my family, friends and as many people as I can inform."
Peter Moore

"Excellent product"
Dave Percy

"Very pleased with P20"
C McBride

"Very effective - very satisfied with it - especially as I am of fair complexion - Many thanks!"
Steve Hilton

"Perfect, light, easy to use, effective, not messy... I used P20 throughout the event and was delighted"
Dominic Croft

"I am amazed by your product - this puts it to the ultimate test... thank you"
Kenwynne Barber

"The most fantastic product I've ever tried. I've got very fair Scottish skin and didn’t believe it could possibly last all day, but it did. I went brown for the first time in my life ... I can’t express how good it was"
Louise Post, BBC Radio Sport

"P20 Sunfilter worked a treat ... easy to apply ... the 100ml was ample for the week and cut down the bulk and weight I was carrying."
Jim Groark

The majority of the runners who gave us their comments, say that they would use P20 again for other expeditions.

P20 passes the Sahara test for the third year running! The 15th Marathon Des Sables 9th - 15th April 2000

Every year for over a decade intrepid athletes from all over the world have tackled this, the ultimate endurance test - running some 220 kilometres in a six day event across the Sahara Desert. The route takes them through arduous sand dunes, across foot-breaking stony terrain and over strength-sapping mountains while exposing them to the scorching sun and asking them to perform in temperatures of around 50°C. As if this was not enough, runners are expected to carry their own water and food supplies!

Since 1986, many, many hundreds of competitors (aged 16 to 76 years) have taken part in the Marathon des Sables (The Sand Marathon) - and the year 2000 saw a record 680 athletes (including 71 women) representing 29 different nations.

Many of the UK runners used P20 Once-a-Day Sunfilter during the event - here are just a few of their comments:

"The protection couldn't be faulted"
"In my opinion the best on the market"
"One small bottle lasted for seven days!"
"Very good - no burning at all - and easy to use"

P20 - a vital crew member at Cowes Week

Competitors at the most prestigious event in the sailing calendar were given the opportunity to try P20 for themselves at Cowes week in 1999 and 2000. Sailors were offered enough P20 to protect them from the sun for a day. P20 is so useful in sailing conditions. Once applied it can be totally forgotten - and it will carry on protecting from the sun's rays despite spray (or even an unfortunate ducking). Sailing and being out on the water can cause severe burning in strong sunlight.

P20 rows from London to Paris

In May 1999 Jock Wishart led a squad of top British rowers in an extraordinary recording-breaking challenge. The squad rowed from central London, down the River Thames to the estuary, across and along the English Channel and then up the River Seine to central Paris.

The previous record for this amazing test of strength and stamina was set in 1990 by a crew from the Metropolitan Police. Jock's team - The CNA Maritime Challenge Team - undertook the 490 miles (772 kilometres) - and smashed the record by several hours.

Jock first heard about P20 when he was a crew member in the Cable & Wireless Adventurer round-the-world, record-breaking voyage of 1998. The crew were supplied with P20 then and Jock was so impressed he wanted to use P20 again for this new record breaking challenge.

P20 was supplied to the London to Paris rowing crew to protect them on this exciting challenge. Not only did the team break the record but they also raised a considerable amount of money for charity. Sahara Marathon runners rave about P20

British runners in three Marathons des Sables have tested P20 to the limits in this annual six-day race across the Sahara.
Here are just some of their comments about P20:

"P20 is every marathon runner's best friend."
said Rosie Swale when competing in the Marathon des Sables in 2000.

Mrs Kenwynne Barber of Wateringbury, Kent, said of P20 during the Marathon des Sables 2000:
"Everyone seemed thrilled with your product."

Richard Bradshaw of Barnet, Herts, used P20 in the Marathon des Sables 2000. He thought P20 was "very easy to use" and that the 100ml bottle was a "very good size, it lasted all week."

Alastair Hartfield of Pontypridd competed in the Marathon des Sables 2000. He says "I found P20 to be excellent - far better than anything else I had previously used."

Robert Bayman used P20 when he competed in the 1999 Marathon des Sables across the Sahara - he says about P20:
"Brilliant product! I didn't get burnt once. Excellent. Thanks very much."

Tried and tested in the Sahara - British Competitors in the six day Marathon des Sables (like Graeme Fudge above), used P20 Sunfilter. Says Graeme:
Extremely easy to use - excellent product.

Mr. Turner found P20:
"Quite simply outstanding"

"Perfect, light, easy to use, effective, not messy. I finished 25th overall out of the 520 competitors and was the first Briton in the alst two stages. I used P20 throughout the event and was delighted with the protection it provided. I would happily continue to endorse it as I begin my preparation for the 100km event in the 2002 Commonwealth Games."
Dominic Croft

"The most fantastic product I've ever tried. I've got very fair Scottish skin and didn't believe it could possibly last all day, but it did. And I went brown for the first time in my life, I normally just go red, then back to white! I was very, very worried about being out in the Sahara sun with nowhere to shelter but P20 was simply wonderful. I can't express how good it was - I was under 50°C sun for 10 hours a day and the one application did the job! I couldn't recommend P20 more highly. Fantastic, wonderful, incredible etc! Please can I have some more..."
Louise Post, BBC Radio Sport

"It was the BMW of sunscreens. I always started the race feeling totally secure about being protected and you are light-years ahead of your competitors. On a less important level, I liked the smell and its non-greasy nature."
Daniel Bonallack

Follow her amazing journey on this website. The amazing Rosie Swale - the round-the-world yachtswoman, marathon runner and adventurer is facing her biggest challenge yet. Having twice run the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara (the toughest foot race on earth), and having undertaken runs across Iceland, Cuba, Eastern Europe she now intends to run around the world on her own. Raising thousands of pounds for charity through her adventures, Rosie is setting off in April 2003 to run across Nepal (a journey of about 1000 kilometres) and October 2003 will see her embarking on her world-wide run.

Starting from her home in Wales, Rosie aims to complete the 20,000 mile journey in about 18 months. Her adventure will take her through Europe and she hopes to reach Moscow by the New Year in order to face the Siberian leg of the journey during the spring and summer. Do visit this website again for updates on her progress.

"I never go anywhere in the world without P20 for protection. Whether I'm training in the UK or running in the sun-scorched Sahara Desert, over ice-caps in Iceland, or in the sweltering jungles of Cuba, I rely on remarkable P20. It's never let me down."
Rosie Swale, Round-the-world yachtswoman, marathon runner and adventurer.

"P20 should be compulsory for all desert runners. It certainly looked after me. It literally made all the difference"

International documentary maker and cameraman supports P20

Sebastian Rich - the award-winning ITN cameraman and documentary maker works around the globe in some of the most arduous environments as he covers conflict and human stories across all six continents. Very often his work takes him into some of the sun-scorched regions of the world and in these conditions Sebastian has to be able to concentrate on his work without having to worry about the constant re-application of sun creams. Sebastian started using P20 some years ago (and also relied on its protection when he ran in the Marathon des Sables in 1996). He is an ardent fan of the product and recommends P20 without hesitation:

"A magic, no fuss product! P20 is always with me. In my work it is brilliant since I never know how long I am going to be exposed to the sun during each day. My wife works on a charter yacht where we live (in Cyprus) and never goes to sea without wearing P20"
Sebastian Rich, award-winning current affairs and documentary cameraman
